About the Lecture:
Contacting present moment awareness, also called flexible attention is the door to access the other ACT processes (defusion, acceptance, self as context, values and committed action) and it is facilitated through mindfulness. Present moment awareness allows us to notice and open up to our thoughts and feelings and to identify and engage in valued action. In this training, we’ll learn ways to mindfully cultivate flexible attention and curiosity to the present moment in order to connect with the richness of our lived experience. We’ll consider how we can use present moment awareness in our work with clients both for them and for us. And we’ll look at how mindful awareness facilitates psychological flexibility through the other ACT processes and how we can use it to connect with them.
