Defusion (ACT in Process Lecture Series)

  • The New School 72 5th Avenue, 7th Floor, Room H 713 New York, NY 10012 United States (map)

About the Lecture:

As human beings we spend our lives immersed in our thoughts, often unaware of the constant chatter in our minds and our impulses to act based on what we think. In this presentation, we will discuss the process by which we can bring our thoughts and their consequences into our consciousness and explore the possibility of relating to our thoughts in ways that allow us to consider what matters most to us, promoting a flexible thought response and behaviors that are aligned with our values.

Here's what you can expect from this engaging session:

  • Understanding how acceptance is defined and represented within ACT

  • Exploring nuances in acceptance relative to real life situations

  • Learning how some religious traditions (e.g., Taoism) address acceptance

  • Practicing acceptance of difficult thoughts or feelings

Whether you're a therapist, counselor, or simply someone interested in enhancing your mental well-being, this lecture is for you.

Don't miss this chance to gain valuable insights and tools of acceptance! We look forward to having you with us for this exciting lecture. Feel free to invite friends and colleagues who might also benefit from this enriching experience.
