About the Lecture:
Have you ever been told that you just need to accept something? Well, how do you do that? Further, how do you accept something that you consider to be unacceptable?
In this workshop, we'll review the role of acceptance in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as various religious traditions. Participants will learn the importance of balancing change with acceptance, action with inaction, and striving with allowing. Through a contemplative exercise, participants will practice acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings to underscore the distinction between accepting our internal state vs. the external world.
Here's what you can expect from this engaging session:
Understanding how acceptance is defined and represented within ACT
Exploring nuances in acceptance relative to real life situations
Learning how some religious traditions (e.g., Taoism) address acceptance
Practicing acceptance of difficult thoughts or feelings
Whether you're a therapist, counselor, or simply someone interested in enhancing your mental well-being, this lecture is for you.
Don't miss this chance to gain valuable insights and tools of acceptance! We look forward to having you with us for this exciting lecture. Feel free to invite friends and colleagues who might also benefit from this enriching experience.
